OpenAI starts global GPT-Live rollout in ChatGPT Voice
The new voice system is available in ChatGPT, while developer API access remains unannounced.
OpenAI says it began rolling out GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini to ChatGPT users globally on July 8. The company says GPT-Live-1 will be the default Voice model for Go, Plus, and Pro users, while the mini version will be the default for Free users across iOS, Android, and ChatGPT.com.
OpenAI describes GPT-Live as a full-duplex voice system that can listen and speak at the same time. For search, reasoning, or more complex tasks, it can delegate work to another model; OpenAI says GPT-5.5 is the background model at launch.
The rollout is a ChatGPT product availability update, not an API launch. OpenAI says it plans to bring GPT-Live to the API soon, but the announcement gives no API release date, so developers cannot yet treat this as confirmed programmatic availability.
